Why a travel consultation helps

Different destinations come with different health considerations. Some vaccines are given as a series over several weeks, which is why we suggest booking a private consultation four to six weeks before you fly. During the consultation the pharmacist looks at where you are going, how long you will stay, what you plan to do and your health history.

At Eastview Pharmacy, a travel consultation covers destination-specific vaccines, any prescriptions you may need to fill before leaving, and practical topics such as carrying medications through security, time zone changes and packing a basic travel health kit. Many travel vaccines can be given at the pharmacy; some need a prescription first.

Packing your medications

Keep medications in their original labelled containers, pack them in your carry-on, and bring a little more than you need in case of delays. A current medication list is handy if you need care while away; a MedsCheck gives you one. If you use blister packs, ask us early so your packs cover the trip.

Travel advice changes with outbreaks and seasons, so a consultation close to your trip, but early enough for vaccine schedules, is ideal. To book, call (905) 725-3594. You can read more about vaccines we give on our vaccinations page.
